Nobody knows when surfing was invented. It was first seen by Europeans

when they visited Hawaii in the 18th century. However, it was enjoyed

for hundreds of years before the Europeans arrived. These days, surfing

has become popular with people around the world.

Professional surfers travel to places such

as California, Chile, Mexico, and Tahiti.

There, they take part in big surfing

competitions. Cash prizes are given to

the winning surfers. The competitions

are even broadcast live on TV in many

countries. Surfing has truly become an

international sport.
